It was Dr. Doug Herthel’s desire to do more than simply repair injured horses at Alamo Pintado Equine Clinic in Los Olivos that led to the research and development of Platinum Performance therapeutic nutritional supplements. He wanted to help restore these horses to maximum health.
A veterinarian with an expertise in orthomolecular medicine, Dr. Herthel had clinically observed an increasing number of health conditions linked to nutritional deficiencies among horses under his care. With this in mind he focused on developing a highly-palatable formula from a blend of synergistic therapeutic nutrients, particularly those often deficient in the equine diet. Horses on this food supplement — dubbed "Platinum Performance" by Dr. Herthel’s wife and business partner Sue — recovered more quickly after surgery and had reduced need for rehabilitation.
